Forest for the Trees…

On R. Kelly and Bill Cosby and whichever other Black man who we have championed at the expense of our own women and children:

It seems that we as a people (of the African Diaspora) have come to a crossroads… we’ve seemed to have lost sight of who deserves protection. It is a fact that Black men have long been and still are targeted by a racially unjust society and court system… But somehow, the impact that those same things have on Black women is all but even a topic of discussion. WE CANNOT make one more important than the other. WE CANNOT continue this way. We cannot use the protection of Black men as an excuse to neither degrade, nor desert, nor condemn Black women, especially in their times of need. Our bodies and our stories have been possessed and told by others for long enough.
